She has written extensively about crime, politics, government bureaucracy, terrorism, and both man-made and natural disasters.
Acton’s debut novel, The Taker, independently published in 2021, was a finalist for Best Mystery in the Silver Falchion Award competition sponsored by the Killer Nashville International Writer’s Conference.
Empty Boxes, the second book in the Rita Locke Mystery Series, will be released Nov. 18, 2025, by Amphorae Publishing Group through the Blank Slate Press. The third book in the series, tentatively titled The Last Obituary, is slated for publication in 2027. She is represented by literary agent Dean Krystek at WordLink, Inc.
A wanderer at heart, Acton loves to travel, and has thus far visited forty-one states and forty-three countries, with the rest of the world on her bucket list. She and her husband Merle Harr live in Latrobe and share a blended family that includes a daughter, three sons, five grandchildren, and a very spoiled dog, Louie.
